Anti Aging Foods: Salmon for Your Skin

Anti-aging skin care is about more than just fancy products, expensive creams and invasive plastic surgery techniques.  When it comes to our skin and how we look, we are what we eat.  Why grow old gracefully when Mother Nature has already supplied us with everything we need to keep a youthful and healthy complexion?

If you’re serious about taking care of your skin and looking naturally healthy and youthful, you’ve got to add Omega 3’s into your diet. Heart healthy salmon is packed with Omega 3’s and lots of other great stuff that is beneficial for your health. So not only are you fighting heart disease when you eat this protein-packed pesce (Italian for ‘fish’), you’re also doing wonders for your complexion.

Every day, our skin cells are fighting a brutal battle against free radicals—unstable oxygen molecules that are associated with everything from cancer to heart disease and the tell-tale signs of aging.  Free radicals can destroy our healthy skin cells. When our healthy cells are damaged, it can lead to a breakdown in collagen and protein, two main components that are responsible for healthy, glowing skin.

Anti-aging foods like salmon have been given to us by Mother Nature to help wage the war that’s brewing deep within.  These foods help our bodies to fight off free radicals and lessen their effects on our appearance and overall health.

Special healthy compounds like antioxidants and omega-3 fatty acids, found in Salmon, empower these foods with incredible potency.

Salmon contains a massive dose of omega-3’s, in fact it boasts the highest content of any fish. Because of this, salmon can help your skin maintain and enhance its natural radiance and fight the forces of aging.

Omega 3’s, or Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) do not occur naturally in the body, so we need to get them through food or supplement.

If you don’t like to eat salmon or fish, you’re in luck.  You can also get your daily source of Omega 3 fatty acids through a pill. There are many different types of supplements to choose from.  Some say ‘fish oil’ and some say ‘Omega 3’.  The best approach to figuring out which is right for you is to consult your physician first.

So remember to incorporate salmon or some type of Omega 3 supplement into your daily diet.  Salmon is also incredibly heart healthy!
