See What You’ve Been Missing in Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are excellent skin rejuvenators and can dramatically change the texture, smoothness and clarity of your skin. There are many different types of peels available. Most people only know of what is called ‘deep chemical peels’, which are done in a medical facility and require weeks of recovery.

There are several other types of peels that do not hurt, and can be done in a professional spa setting.  These types of peels yield excellent results and many require little to no downtime. If you’ve avoided inquiring about chemical peels because you thought they were too painful, too expensive, or required too much downtime, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear what you’ve been missing.

Types of Chemical Peels

Chemical peels come in different strengths: mild, medium and deep.  Mild to medium chemical peels often use Trichloracetic Acid (TCA), glycolic, or salicylic acid.  These types of peels require very little downtime and can be done without the use of any numbing agent.  Mild peels, often called ‘lunchtime peels’, can literally be done on your lunch hour and you can return back to work right after with very little redness or signs of irritation.

Mild to medium peels are excellent for anti-acne skin care regimens and anti-aging skin care as well.  Light peels can diminish the appearance of fine lines, sun spots, acne scars and slightly uneven pigmentation.

The difference in skin tone and texture is amazing, even after just one peel.  Many women say their makeup seems ‘flawless’ once applied after a peel.  Patients also notice that their skin feels smoother and looks more even toned.  After 2-3 treatments, a visible reduction in acne scarring or age spots on the face is noticeable.

Mild to medium chemical peels don’t hurt. Most patients feel a warming to slight tingling sensation for just a few minutes.  Your skin will peel and flake off for about 7  days following a peel, revealing a smoother, brighter  complexion.
