How Long Does A Brazilian Wax Last?

One of the most popular reasons women opt for a Brazilian bikini wax is because their hair stays smoother longer than shaving.  Often when people come to me for a Brazilian wax, one of the first questions they have is, “how long before I will have to come back again?”

While it’s true that waxing can leave your skin smooth and stubble free for as long as 2 weeks at a time, it takes some patience getting to that point.  When you come in for your first waxing, we are only able to wax that hair that has re-grown since the last time you shaved.  Not all of your hair grows back at the same time.  Some of your hair is still below the skin’s surface, about to poke through any day now.

After your first waxing session, you may notice that you feel some stubble a day or two later. This is not hair that was missed during your waxing appointment or hair that was waxed and is already growing back.  This is hair that was still under the skin’s surface at the time of your Brazilian wax appointment.

In waxing, the more you wax, the less hair you will have.  The more frequently you use waxing as your preferred method of hair removal, the greater the chance that you will be able to remove more and more hair directly from the root follicle.  Repeated removal of the hair follicle eventually damages the follicle, and new hair is not able to re-grow.  Typically this happens after about 4-8 waxing sessions. You will notice that the hair growing back is softer and you will also notice that your skin stays smooth for about 10-15 days now.

The science of hair growth is very complicated.  But one thing is for sure, when it comes to waxing, more = less.  So the sooner you start, the sooner you will enjoy all of the benefits waxing has to offer; smooth skin that lasts.
