Is There An Age Limit on the Brazilian Wax?

How Young it Too Young for a Brazilian Wax?

I recently received an email from a reader who wanted to know if there is an age limit on Brazilian wax services in NJ.  Legally, there is no age limit in NJ for the Brazilian wax, but many NJ day spas may have their own restrictions.

Personally, I do not recommend a complete Brazilian bikini wax on young teens. This particular teen was 15 years old.  I understand that kids are growing up faster then they did when I was young, but I still feel that a complete Brazilian bikini wax can wait until you are 18. I do however recommend regular bikini waxes, or high bikini waxes to remove a little more hair. Waxing keeps the area clean and this is a very safe and hygienic method of hair removal.  Not to mention, as you get older, less and less hair will grow back and you will have to visit the waxing salon fewer times.

At my NJ day spa, if a client was very persistent in receiving a Brazilian wax at age 15, I would only perform the service with after receiving written permission from a parent or legal guardian.
