Going Grey. Solutions for Helping Grey Eyebrows Look Their Best
Going grey? If you are you may have noticed that your eyebrows are also following suit. The problem with grey eyebrow hair is that the hair itself can become very coarse and difficult to manage, and it’s very time consuming to color grey eyebrows. So what’s a gal to do? You want to look your best and you certainly can’t do so with grey wires growing over your eyes. Right?
One reader recently wrote in:
“What do I do about the grey (white) eyebrow hairs growing in? If I keep plucking them, I won’t have any eyebrows at all. The grey ones are so stiff. I have color put on them when I have my hair colored, but I can’t keep up with them. Thanks for your help! ”
Unfortunately there is no simple solution to maintaining eyebrows that have gone grey. In my opinion, you have two choices:
1) become a slave to your colorist and have your eyebrows dyed as often as possible or
2) pluck the grey hairs and use permanent makeup to fill in sparse areas.
Because grey eyebrows are so coarse, they tend to stick out in an alien antennae type of fashion. So coloring grey eyebrows is not always the solution. One of the best solutions is to pluck the grey hairs and use permanent makeup to fill in the gaps. Permanent makeup is becoming much more common, and today you can even find many prominent cosmetic surgeons who are skilled at this delicate art for aesthetic and reconstructive purposes. Permanent eyebrow makeup can have a very natural look when done properly. So I do suggest your do your research well.
If you live in NJ, I would recommend you call the offices of Cosmetic Surgeon Dr Anthony Lombardi. He has a wonderful person on staff that is excellent in permanent makeup.
For dry and coarse eyebrow hair: Every night take a drop of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and massage into eyebrows. This will help make hair softer and not so unruly.
