Summer Waxing Tips from NJ Wax Expert; Before And After Sun Safety.

It surprises me to learn that many individuals still do not realize the danger in getting waxed before or after sun exposure.  Just recently, I had a client come in for an eyebrow wax and some other minor facial waxing.  She had just come from the beach.  Of course, she was more than disappointed when I refused to perform the waxing services on her.

I explained to her that her skin is now very sensitive after having been exposed to the sun for a few hours, and what can happen is that the skin care tear from the waxing.  When you wax, you are actually removing part of the top layer of skin. Combine that with a sun burn and you can really create a serious wound.

Please be aware that it is not a good idea to have any waxing services performed after exposure to the sun.  If you absolutely must be waxed before you go in the sun, be sure to apply zinc oxide (sunscreen based on zinc oxide) to the area that was waxed and reapply constantly to protect that area from being seriously burned.

If a facility performs waxing services on you after you have been in the sun (which should never happen in a professional facility) I recommend you use Cicalfate by Avene. This is a great rescue cream that every single family should have in their refrigerator for any skin irritation, dermatitis, sun burn, etc.  I prefer this cream over other anti-biotic creams.    You can call me at Aquamedica (732-222-8611) to purchase this cream or go to Avene website and see who sells it near you.
