Using Astringent After Waxing Can Help Prevent Whiteheads

Waxing and whiteheads don’t have to go hand-in-hand.  Although many men and women experience whiteheads or breakouts after waxing, there are ways to prevent them from occurring.

Why Do I Get Whiteheads After Waxing?

After your skin is waxed, your pores are open and vulnerable to bacteria, dirt, and oil.  To keep infection and bacteria from developing in freshly waxed skin, a little astringent can go a long way.

What is Astringent?

Externally applied astringents dry, harden, and protect the skin.  After applying astringent, your skin may feel tight; this is because the astringent helps tighten the pores, acting as a guard from bacteria that could cause whiteheads to develop after waxing.

Witch Hazel is a wonderful, natural astringent that can be found in all drug stores and most super markets. It’s inexpensive too!  There is no need to spend a lot of money of expensive creams, lotions or soaps.  After waxing, use a cotton ball to apply astringent to the affected area.  Be sure to avoid touching freshly waxed skin with your fingers, as this could transfer bacteria, dirt and oil.

Using astringent should help control any whiteheads that develop after waxing.  For more information on pimples after waxing, visit
